Thank You From FAST-Aid for a Successful 2011

From the Desk of Jared Tetzlaff, Fast-Aid President:

MESA, AZ – DECEMBER 23, 2011:  From the Desk of Jared Tetzlaff, Fast-Aid President:  This has been another exciting year of opportunities to serve our off-road family and the Board of Directors at FAST-Aid are truly appreciative of all the support we have received.  As the President, I am overwhelmed by what we have been able to accomplish this year with all of your enthusiasm.  In 2011, Fast-Aid has helped 14 members of the off-road community in their time of need.  If you are considering tax-deductible causes to support before the end of the year, please consider FAST-Aid as a valued recipient.

FAST-Aid has been able to ensure those we help are able to keep their homes, pay their insurance deductibles, and provide for other necessities in times of tragedy.  Fast-Aid exists so that when the unthinkable happens, those in need can focus on their recovery and their family while we worry about meeting their needs.  The total assistance provided in 2011 was well into the tens of thousands of dollars.  This is money that was donated by the off-road community and put right back into action assisting those who needed it.  Our Mission Statement is: FAST-Aid is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing financial, educational and personal assistance to injured racers, support teams and their families as well as ensures the necessary support is in place to complete a thorough recovery and rehabilitation from motor sports racing incidents.

Slash X Memorial2011 started off continuing the recovery process with those affected by the tragic California 200 accident of 2010.  Long after the news cameras have moved onto the latest breaking news, FAST-Aid continued to stand by the families devastated by their personal loss.  Part of the healing for the off-road community was to find a permanent and meaningful placement for the California 200 Memorial Ribbon.  As with the California 200 fundraising effort, the off-road community came together to make a difference.  Led by FAST-Aid Vice President Lucas Hand, several companies in the off-road industry stepped up to donate time, material and labor undertaking this project.  On the one-year anniversary of the tragic accident, the memorial was unveiled in a beautiful garden setting at Slash X just a few miles from the Rock Pile in Barstow.  This bitter-sweet event further reminded us of how fleeting life can be with the loss of Slash X owner Brian Lynn in a car accident just days before the dedication.  FAST-Aid responded to the needs of this very generous family in assisting them with the funeral costs.  The Lynn family legacy is summed up in their generosity to donate a portion of their land for the memorial garden and allowing us to go through with the occasion in their time of mourning.

FAST-Aid was busy working on different projects for the betterment of off-road racing.  Our own board member Kim Carpenter was awarded the CORVA Past Presidents Award for her work on Land Use Issues.  FAST-Aid, BlueRibbon Coalition and Source Interlink Publishing will be working together to reach hundreds of thousands of readers every month with a positive public education segment promoting responsible land use and safety in off-roading.  We are also very pleased with the announcement by VORRA that they will be phasing in a Head and Neck Restraint requirement in the 2012-13 season.  FAST-Aid supports and appreciates the efforts of all race promoters that are making racing safer and organizations who are recognizing and communicating safety efforts.

Fast Aid Raffle          As race promoters and off-road companies continue to learn about what FAST-Aid is doing to support the off-road community, they are finding new and creative ways to support our mission.  HDRA announced that a portion of all memberships will be donated to help FAST-Aid and the Southwest Rally Cup Series has integrated the FAST-Aid logo into their required stickers for participating vehicles.  Debuting in conjunction with a pre-Vegas to Reno kickoff party and fundraiser, long time off-road icon restaurant Hussongs added a FAST-Aid signature dish to the menu with a portion of the proceeds donated to FAST-Aid.  At the Off-Road Expo, we were part of a raffle for a Ricki Rockett Drum set sponsored by Poison Spyder Customs that benefitted FAST-Aid as well as BlueRibbon Coalition and Wounded Warriors.  King Shocks chose FAST-Aid as the beneficiary of their fundraiser at the King of the Hammers and Strategic Racing Designs hosted a Fundraiser in San Diego.  All community effort goes a long way in supporting our mission to educate and assist those whose passion is competing in the dirt.

Mike Childress Fast AidWe can’t forget the racers that support us.  Without the racing, we wouldn’t get to do what we do.  This year we launched the FAST-Aid Ambassador program with various drivers from various classes stepping up to represent FAST-Aid and help get the word out about our mission.  The successes achieved by racers willing to give up a portion of their body panels to support FAST-Aid has led to several class championships and huge race wins which in turn gave FAST-Aid sticker exposure in beloved off-road publications like Dirt Sports and Dusty Times, on main stream online media like and, and mainstream television from the LOORS, BITD, SCORE, and Mint 400 race coverage.  Further evidence that it is a team effort by racers, crews, companies and media to get the word out about how awesome our sport is!

While juggling jobs and families with all the activities mentioned, the FAST-Aid Board of Directors and volunteers still made time for our number one passion – Being out in the dirt at races and events to see the off-road family.  FAST-Aid was represented at over 20 off-road races this year throughout 3 states and 2 countries, including SCORE, SNORE, BITD, LOORS, MORE and King of the Hammers.  We also had the privilege of being invited back to the Dezert People 9 premiere tour, and attended the Sand Sports Super Show and Off-Road Expo.  This made for a lot of miles on the Boards vehicles and vacation days spent, but it’s what we love to do.  We hope you’ll come and find us at one of the many races and events we will be attending in 2012.

Thank you for all your support and thank you for your interest and taking the time to read my end of year ramblings.  This time of the year is usually dedicated to family and acknowledging what we are thankful for.  It’s a time to celebrate the blessings in your life and look forward to the exciting opportunities the upcoming year holds. The holidays are a time for reflection and appreciation, and in writing this, I am so grateful for YOUR support.  YOUR DONATIONS ARE WHAT MAKE IT POSSIBLE FOR US TO GIVE BACK! Sitting here writing this has given me a renewed passion and excitement for what 2012 holds for our sport and our organization.  Be on the lookout in early 2012 for announcements about the new programs we will be introducing to continue to make off-road racing even better and safer as we seek to serve the off-road racing familia.
