One of two double-header points Dirt Riot races happens this weekend at the new Baird Motorsports Park in Sturgis, Kentucky on June 7th. Race points can count for the Midstates and Southeast series championships making this a pivoting race for the season. Racing starts at 9am and will go until at least 3pm with awards immediately following. “When Bill Baird opened this motorsports park we were extremely excited to see it and even more excited when we realized that it was perfect for a Dirt Riot race,” said Rich Klein, President and founder of W.E. Rock Events. “Bill’s commitment to making this one of the best off-road parks in the area is sincere and noticeable.”
The new race course is a 1 mile GP style track with various jumps, including a table top, fade away and a set of triples. High speed banked corners along with flat and off camber turns makes for a complete off road experience. Course design allows the track to drain a lot of water enabling the track to recover quickly after it rains. The main pit area is grass covered with lights and an announcer loud speakers system surrounds the Little Sturgis Motoplex. Racing for all classes will be done in a multiple heat style format, allowing teams to repair or make adjustments to the cars between heats. A unique points system based on finishing position in each heat will determine an overall leader in each class, different from the usual Dirt Riot endurance racing. Lap times in each heat will be recorded and posted allowing teams to see how they progress during the days action packed races.
