EL DORADO, CA MAY 12, 2010: The CalROCs third season will start this weekend, May 15th and 16th, at a new event site local to Reno, NV. With four courses running each day starting at 10am, and over 40 competitors, there are 160 high action spots to watch with no shortage of carnage, rollovers, and incredible displays of driving talent.
The natural rock formations in the Reno area aid to the excitement with steep climbs, vertical drop offs, and tight technical sections. The CalROCS series attracts competitors from the entire western region with some of the wildest, coolest and perhaps weirdest looking vehicles you have ever seen, from fairly stock looking jeeps to incredible “Moon Buggies”.
The competition was stiff in 2009 where four out of the five classes came down to the last day to determine the 2009 Championship Titles. It has already been confirmed that all of last years champions will be returning to defend their title including Brian Whitford in the Pro Mod class, Dan Patterson in the Stock class, Mike Bou in the Full Body class, Derek Trent in the Super Mod class and Brent Bradshaw in the Unlimited class.
The amphitheater gives spectators the ability to watch virtually all the rock courses from one location and also the Freestyle Moto-X that will be taking place. Monster truck rides will be available along with food and vendors, making it a great day outside for the family.
If the big rock crawlers aren’t enough, CalROCs has also set up a Radio Controlled Rock Crawling course that is open to the public to compete in. Space is limited so be sure to contact CalROCs of your intent to ensure a position at the starting gate.
Admission is $15 per day for adults, kids 8-15 are $5, and kids 7 and under are free. More information on all the CalROCs events is available at www.calrocs.com.
